Yellow Mesh Double Sided Carpet Tape is a cloth base tape with mesh reinforcement and adhesive on both sides. The yellow cloth core gives the roll strength, so it holds its shape when you press it down and peel the backing away. The adhesive is clear, waterproof and high viscosity, which means it grips and stays put once it makes contact.
This tape sits in our rug pad category because that is where most shoppers need it. Use it to hold a non slip rug pad to the floor, keep a runner rug from creeping, or secure a door mat at an entry. It also works for light fixation jobs around the home where two surfaces need to meet and stay aligned.
The tape comes in nine widths, all on the same 32.8 ft (10 m) roll. Pick the width that matches the job. Narrow rolls suit thin edges and small mats. Wider rolls cover more surface and hold larger rugs and pads.
| Width | Length per roll |
|---|---|
| 0.4 in (10 mm) | 32.8 ft (10 m) |
| 0.6 in (15 mm) | 32.8 ft (10 m) |
| 0.8 in (20 mm) | 32.8 ft (10 m) |
| 1 in (25 mm) | 32.8 ft (10 m) |
| 1.2 in (30 mm) | 32.8 ft (10 m) |
| 1.4 in (35 mm) | 32.8 ft (10 m) |
| 1.6 in (40 mm) | 32.8 ft (10 m) |
| 2 in (50 mm) | 32.8 ft (10 m) |
| 2.4 in (60 mm) | 32.8 ft (10 m) |
The tape is yellow. The color comes from the cloth base, and it stays visible at the edges of a pad or mat if a little shows. The adhesive itself is clear, so it does not tint the surfaces it touches. The mesh layer sits inside the cloth base and adds reinforcement without making the roll stiff. The surface is waterproof, which helps in entryways and other spots where dampness can show up.
Start with clean, dry surfaces. Wipe the floor and the back of the rug pad or mat with a damp cloth, then let both dry fully. Dust and grit keep adhesive from bonding.
Cut a strip to length with scissors. Peel the backing from one side and press the tape onto the floor or the pad, depending on how you want to work. Smooth it down with your hand so the whole strip makes contact. Peel the second backing, then set the pad or mat in place and press down across the surface.
For a rug pad, run strips near the corners and along the edges. For a runner, add a strip in the middle as well. For a door mat, two strips along the long edges are usually enough. Press the mat down and walk over it a few times to seat the bond.
When you want to remove the tape, lift a corner and pull slowly. A little warmth from your hand helps the adhesive release. Any residue on a hard floor wipes away with a damp cloth.
Wipe the tape clean with a damp cloth when dust builds up along an edge. Let it dry before pressing the mat back down. Store unused rolls flat in a dry spot. Keep the backing paper on the roll until you are ready to cut a strip, so the exposed adhesive stays clean.
This tape suits hard floors, tile, laminate, vinyl and low pile carpet. It holds rug pads, runner rugs, area rugs and door mats. It also works for light fixation of mats in a garage, mudroom or entry. Because the adhesive is waterproof, it handles spots that see occasional dampness. Check the surface first if you plan to use it on a delicate finish, and test a short strip in a hidden spot before full coverage.
Yes. The adhesive on both sides bonds the pad to the floor and keeps it from sliding. Press the tape down firmly and smooth out any bubbles before setting the pad in place.
A 1.6 in (40 mm) or 2 in (50 mm) roll works well for most runners. Run strips along the edges and one down the middle for extra hold.
It works on low pile carpet. The cloth base and mesh reinforcement help the tape stay flat, and the clear adhesive grips the backing of a pad or mat.
Wipe it with a damp cloth and let it dry. Keep the backing paper on unused rolls and store them flat in a dry spot.
