Flat treads on a rounded nose
We don't sell bullnose wraps that fold over the front of the step. Our treads are flat: they lie on the flat of the step and stop short of the nose, so a rounded bullnose stays in view and nothing has to bend around it. That makes them a simple fit for bullnose stairs, as long as the flat part of the step is deep enough.

GripStep and Warm Loop are single loop pile treads on a rubber backing, Diamond Tufted comes in packs of 4, 8, 12 or 15 with a tufted diamond pattern, and Arc Felt is a semi-circular felt tread in packs of 4, 6 or 8. Sizing checks and step preparation
Measure the flat depth of the step from the riser to where the nose starts to curve; the rounded part doesn't count. GripStep, Warm Loop and Diamond Tufted need 8 in (20 cm) of flat depth, and Arc Felt 9 in (24 cm).

GripStep, Warm Loop and Diamond Tufted have a non-slip rubber backing, and Diamond Tufted needs no tape or adhesive. Arc Felt is self-adhesive: peel the backing and press it down, set back from the nose. If you add any other fixing, make sure it is compatible with your wood finish and test it on an unobtrusive corner of the timber first. Ensure the tread sits flat without raised edges before use.
Routine care and cleaning guidelines
Keeping your treads clean requires straightforward maintenance. Regular vacuuming helps lift surface dust and dirt. When running the vacuum cleaner over the tread, guide the nozzle gently in the direction of the pile.
If liquid marks or spills occur, address them promptly using a clean cloth and a small amount of mild soap:
- Blot the affected spot gently rather than rubbing, which can disrupt the fibers.
- Do not soak the fabric or allow excess water to penetrate the backing.
- Allow the material to dry out completely before setting foot on it or refitting it to your staircase.
After any cleaning or reinstallation, inspect the fixing bond to ensure the tread has not shifted and remains firmly secured to the timber.

Questions
Flat tread or bullnose wrap?
Every tread we sell is flat: it sits on the flat part of the step and leaves the front edge in view, also on a rounded bullnose. We don't sell wraps that fold over the nose.
Which size do I need?
Measure your narrowest step. A step at least 31.5 in (80 cm) wide takes GripStep or Warm Loop, both about 31.5 x 8 in (80 x 20 cm), one at least 30 in (76 cm) wide takes Diamond Tufted at 30 x 8 in (76 x 20 cm), and Arc Felt fits steps at least 24 in (60 cm) wide. Smaller steps? Send us your measurements first.
Will they fit turning or open stairs?
Rectangular treads may not fit tapered, curved or open steps. Measure each step on its own and make sure the whole tread is supported. If a step changes shape, send us the sizes before you order.
Do they stay put? Are they non-slip?
Diamond Tufted, GripStep and Warm Loop have a non-slip rubber backing, and Diamond Tufted needs no tape or adhesive. Soft Step Leaf and Arc Felt have a self-adhesive backing that you peel and press down. Check every tread for movement or lifting edges after fitting. We don't make a certified slip-resistance claim.
