Grid Lock Double Sided Carpet Tape is a thin film with a mesh grid pattern and adhesive on both sides. The grid adds strength while keeping the tape low profile, so it sits flat under a rug without adding bulk. The yellow backing peels away to expose the second adhesive face. Because the film is translucent, it stays discreet at the edges of a rug or runner.
This tape is made for holding, not for heavy hanging. It presses a rug, runner or mat to the floor so corners stay down and edges stop curling. It also works on carpet to carpet contact, which makes it useful under runner rugs in hallways and under door mats near an entry.
Each roll runs 32.8 ft (10 m) long. Pick the width that matches the weight of the rug and the space you have at the edge.
| Width | Best for |
|---|---|
| 0.4 in (1 cm) | Small mats and light rugs |
| 0.8 in (2 cm) | Runners and area rugs |
| 1.2 in (3 cm) | Medium rugs on hard floors |
| 1.6 in (4 cm) | Larger rugs and high traffic paths |
| 2 in (5 cm) | Heavy rugs and wide coverage |
A wider strip spreads the hold across more surface, which helps on smooth floors like tile, laminate and vinyl. A narrower strip is easier to hide along a thin rug edge.
Use it on hard floors, sealed wood, tile, laminate, vinyl and low pile carpet. It suits rug pads, runner rugs, door mats and stair runners. For stairs, cut short strips and press them under the tread edge.
It is not a replacement for a full rug pad on a large rug, and it is not meant for wet areas or for surfaces that are dusty, oily or loose. Test a small strip in a hidden spot first if the floor has a fresh finish.
For a runner, place strips near each corner and one in the middle. For a door mat, two strips along the long edges are enough. For a stair runner, add a strip under the nose of each tread.
Keep the tape clean and dry. Dust and grit weaken the hold, so wipe the floor and the rug back before you apply a new strip. If a corner lifts, press it back down or add a fresh strip.
To remove the tape, peel it back slowly at a low angle. Warmth from a hair dryer on a low setting can soften the adhesive if it feels tight. Any residue on a hard floor can be wiped with a cloth and a little warm water. On carpet, pull with care so the fibers stay in place.
Store unused rolls flat in a dry spot. The backing keeps the second face clean until you are ready to use it.
Yes. Press it to a clean, dry tile floor and set the rug on top. Wider strips such as 1.6 in (4 cm) or 2 in (5 cm) give the strongest hold on smooth floors.
Yes. The tape bonds to low pile carpet as well as hard floors. It is a common choice under runner rugs and door mats that sit on top of wall to wall carpet.
Each roll runs 32.8 ft (10 m) long. One roll is enough for several rugs, runners or mats when you cut short strips.
Peel it back slowly at a low angle. If it feels tight, warm it with a hair dryer on a low setting, then wipe any residue with a cloth and warm water.
