What this tape is

Grit Shield Anti-Slip Traction Tape adds a reliable grip surface to the places where you step. The top layer is a coarse 80 grit abrasive that bites into shoe soles and bare feet. Under it, a waterproof backing holds up to wet weather, splashes and routine cleaning. Each roll measures 16.4 ft (5 m) long and comes in a 1 in (25 mm) or 2 in (50 mm) width, so you can run a narrow strip along a step edge or cover a wider walkway path.

This is a simple, practical product. You cut it to length, peel the backing and press it down. No special tools and no messy adhesives.

Sizes and colors

Pick the width that matches your surface and the color that fits your space. Every roll is 16.4 ft (5 m) long.

Colors: gray, yellow, yellow and black, blue, black and red.

Gray and black blend into concrete, wood and metal. Yellow and yellow-and-black stand out for high visibility areas. Blue and red add a clean accent to a shop floor, porch or basement stair. All colors carry the same 80 grit surface and waterproof backing.

Where to use it

This tape is made for stairs, steps and walkways indoors and outdoors. Common spots include:

How to apply it

1. Clean the surface. Remove dust, grease and loose paint. A dry, smooth surface holds best.
2. Measure and cut. Cut the tape to length with scissors or a utility knife.
3. Peel and press. Remove the backing liner and press the tape down firmly, working from the center out.
4. Roll or rub. Run a roller or your hand over the tape to seat the adhesive.
5. Let it set. Give the adhesive time to bond before heavy use.

For stair edges, place the strip so it sits where feet land, usually the front edge of the tread. For walkways, run strips parallel to the path of travel or in short cross strips, depending on the surface.

Care and upkeep

Sweep or vacuum the tape to clear grit and debris. Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap when needed. Avoid solvent cleaners, oil-based products and abrasive scrubbing pads, which can break down the adhesive or smooth the grit. If a corner lifts, press it back down. In cold weather, warm the surface and the tape before applying for a stronger bond.
