What these stair treads are

Diamond Loop Stair Treads are carpet treads that sit on top of your wooden indoor steps. Each one has a polyester fibre loop pile surface with a small diamond pattern, bonded to a rubber backing that grips the step below.

The profile is flat. The tread lies on the step and stops short of the nose, so it does not wrap over the edge. That keeps the look low and neat on open wooden stairs, and it means the tread stays out of the way of your foot as you climb.

The low loop pile is dense and short. It gives you a soft surface underfoot without a thick, cushioned feel that can catch a toe. The diamond pattern adds a little texture to the surface, which helps the tread read as a finished part of the staircase rather than an add-on.

Sizes and pack options

Every tread is the same size. The pack you choose sets how many steps you can cover.

Size Pack options
8 x 30 in (20.3 x 76 cm) 4 treads, 7 treads, 10 treads, 15 treads

A tread fits steps 30 in (76 cm) wide or wider. If your step is wider than 30 in (76 cm), the tread will not span the full width. Measure your step before you order, and count the steps you want to cover so the pack size matches.

A common staircase has 13 to 16 steps. A 15 tread pack covers most full flights, while 4, 7 and 10 packs suit shorter runs, landings or a partial set. If you are not sure, order by the number of steps you plan to cover.

Colors

You pick the color and the pack separately, so you can match the treads to your stairs and your room.

  • Dark gray: a deep, solid tone that hides marks well on busy stairs.
  • Gray: a mid tone that sits between light and dark wood and blends with most wall colors.
  • Beige: a warm, light neutral that suits pale wood and soft, bright rooms.

All three colors use the same loop pile surface and rubber backing. The diamond pattern is the same across the range.

How to fit and use them

These treads are made for wooden stairs indoors. They are not designed for outdoor steps, tile, or concrete.

  1. Clean the step first. Vacuum or wipe away dust and grit so the rubber backing can grip.
  2. Let the treads settle. If a tread arrives with a curl from packing, lay it flat for a while before placing it.
  3. Center the tread on the step. Leave the nose clear, since the flat profile stops short of the edge.
  4. Press down along the whole tread. Run your hand from the middle out to the edges so the backing makes full contact.
  5. Check the fit. The tread should sit flat with no lifted corners.

Once in place, the rubber backing holds the tread on the step. The low pile keeps a low profile, so the tread does not bunch or shift as you walk. Use them on the steps your household uses most, or run them the full length of the flight for a consistent look.

Care

Keep the treads clean with a vacuum. Run a vacuum over the loop pile on a regular schedule to lift dust and grit out of the surface.

For spills and marks, spot clean with mild soap and water. Blot the area, then let it air dry fully before you use the step again. Do not soak the tread or machine wash it, since the rubber backing and the pile are bonded together.

A quick vacuum every week or two is usually enough to keep the diamond pattern looking sharp and the surface soft underfoot.

Questions

Will these stair treads stay in place on wooden steps?

Yes. Each tread has a rubber backing that grips the step. Clean the step first so dust and grit do not sit between the backing and the wood.

What size are the treads and what steps do they fit?

Each tread is 8 x 30 in (20.3 x 76 cm). They fit steps 30 in (76 cm) wide or wider. On a wider step, the tread will not reach the full width.

Can I use these treads on stairs other than wood?

They are made for wooden stairs indoors. They are not designed for outdoor steps or for tile and concrete.

How do I clean the treads?

Vacuum the loop pile regularly. For spots, clean with mild soap and water, then let the tread dry fully before use. Do not machine wash or soak them.
